Pretty cool, Z. Are you playing to a click? I just thought it a bit unsteady in places. But the overall idea is very cool and the drums sound fantastic. You have some nice tom rolls in there and other little fills that is impressive at this stage. I wish far more experienced drummers were as dedicated to the fundamentals as you seem to be.

Thanks Ed!
I've only been playing for a couple weeks.
I *was* playing to a click (well I make my own click track in logic with easy to hear drum sounds like cowbell on 1 and triangle on 2,3,4).
Just not real good at playing to a click yet.
Haven't figured out if I should keep my heel on the ground and just pivot my foot for the kick, or just slam my whole foot
down (in this one I am moving my whole foot because I can hit it harder that way).
I need lots of practice with fills but it's fun just trying to make them up on the fly....
There are some pretty good sounding kits built into the drum set, and I can make my own custom kits
(using the 400 built in samples), but I haven't tried that yet.
Also the snare is 3 zones, so hitting in the middle is a snare sound, and then one edge is more of a stick-hit
and one edge is a cowbell (all configurable). I didn't really use the edge hits in this one. Just kept it simple
and tried to vary the fills.

Its a start Z
Never going to be easy when you start learning a new instrument so mastering the basic beats without losing time should be the priority before you start doing the fancy stuff .
Perhaps a good way might be to make a track with a simple beat using your old method (before you had the kit) and then remove the drums and play the kit along with the track. That way everything else has already been timed to a beat and you can jam away until you reach a point where you are happy enough to add a drum track using the kit.
Should be an interesting exercise

Yep. That's what I'm doing. I hate "click tracks" so I start with a track in logic with a cowbell-like sound on 1, and then a triangle-like sound on 2, 3, and 4.
That's working. I just need practice because the timing is totally different when I'm flailing around with the sticks.
It's all about momentum and rebound and postitioning. It's a different distance to every head, so it's a whole new world.
Timing when hitting guitar strings is far easier
I'll get there.... improving a little every day.
It is opening fresh new perspectives.

Takes a lot of practice learning to play any instrument Z, but you're doing great with those drums! Cool sounding Tele too

Cheers Z I got some really cool 3D fractals (awesome for CD covers as I tend to render everything square these days!) Will have to have a sort out in the fractal section so I've got room to upload them.
