Be interesting to see what you make of this track.

Using something new here.....a Guitar to MIDI converter.

The Tenor Sax is played on the guitar through the Roland JV1080. The sound is much more realistic than using a keyboard as the guitars dynamics are transposed by midi into the part and it picks up bends , vibrato and velocity changes.

I will post something more in the Gear section tomorrow about this but for now please review the track.

The guitar is the AXL Strat played clean with an octave pitchshifter which makes it jazzy.

Drums and Bass are actually Hip Hop patterns from the Zoom RT323.

Various reverbs and Stereo delay added to give a live feel.

The whole track was jammed live this afternoon.

FAB listening!!! FAB music! BECAUSE, We Artist tend to get in these "set-ways" of recording. We go in thinking "Recording", Song, ect....We are not as much playing, or being our music. We are "recording" the most. We put our playing second.

HERE is a tune that is the other way around! and WHY it sounds SO good!!!!!
Your listening to your gear, your playing, riding it like a WAVE......And its SO smooth and easy sounding Peter. NOT stiff, or worked up sounding.

Also when we do it this way, it comes out sounding like thers way more production than there is..BECAUSE we do that on the FLY by listening while we play.

TOP TOP LISTEN PETER! SOOOoooo REAL sounding...I can see you setting there playing this!!! AWESOME!

We should ALL put everything into playing, and not so much into recording/producing/ect. WAY cool music here man! WAY!

You are 100% right DACE. Smile

Apart from the idea that I was going to do a jazzy track using a Tenor Sax there was no plan at all.

I played around with the drum and bass loops to give me a backing track with the right feel and recorded it in one take.

I then rehearsed a few times to get the feel for the Sax part and recorded that in one take.

I then jammed around that with a guitar to fill it out a bit.

Whole thing took about an hour and a half Smile

Just improvised all the way and go with the flow wherever it may take me.....I love making tracks like that even if I get one or two little glitches.

Thanks Steve Smile

You get a whole new feel in the sound of an instrument when you play it on a guitar instead of a keyboard.
I have tried sax on a keyboard but it doesn't sound authentic.....this is much more dynamic.

Works well with all wind instruments...Sax, Flutes, Pan Pipes, Clarinet, Oboes etc and great for violin/cello too.
Great for Ambient or Space Rock using Flutes or a Nik Turner sax Smile

Works with synth sounds too of course but some are better than others so lots of experimentation needed so it may sometimes be better to stick with keyboard for a lot of those.....I'm lucky enough to be able to play either Smile
