I have seen a few iPads. Very nice screen for a little device.
Not sure they have the processor power for this:

As ReBirth was the very first VSTI it ran on an early Pentium and only needed 16mb of RAM......I still have the original boxed version.

However this comment really says it all:

BEWARE! When released for the iPhone, there was no way for most users to actually get the music they created off of the iPhone!

There was NOT any audio or midi export - you could only export as a Rebirth file. You would have to then import it onto Rebirth on a computer and THEN export it as audio - and Rebirth the computer program, while free, is so old that it won't play on ANY current OS X system and apparently most windows systems after XP.

So the upshot was, the music was and is stranded in the Rebirth app.

Unless they have fixed this unnecessary and really hard to justify flaw in the iPad version - caveat emptor.

Yeah, that would make it a whole lot less useful.
You should still be able to capture the audio out and then import that into another program.

And, I imagine, someone will write a hack.
If you ever go to this site http://www.hackaday.com you will see that many people
hack phones and apple devices to use the hardware for different things.

Personally I want a whole lot more horsepower behind my software-synths, so I will keep running
them on non-portable devices. But I can see where it would be useful on stage if you had a bunch
of iPads as your input devices and were doing some circuit-bent music.

Using a decent laptop is the answer. Mines about 3 years old but it will run quite a few VSTI's......not that I ever have the need to go live.

If I did go live I would use the laptop for midi sequencing which is much less demanding on the computer.

I have a USB Midi MOTU Expess which will control up to 8 synths each with up to 16 midi channels.

So one laptop could run 128 channels of midi through Sonar.......No Problem.

Now you know another reason why I prefer hardware Smile Smile
