Trying something out just for grins.

I connected my Kawai Keyboard to my Alesis drum machine via MIDI.
And then I took the stereo out from the Alesis and ran that into my mixer.
So keys on the keyboard trigger the drum sounds, and then I record the drum kits built into the Alesis (instead
of going MIDI right into the computer and using Garageband drum kits).

It's kind of tricky, but when I'm in the zone I can play drum tracks with my fingers.

I know it's not going to be the same, but it's a fun thing to screw around with....
at least I will be able to play "live drums" from a tempo point of view.

Cool!
That's a possibility.

I'm kind of looking for a used Roland electronic kit.

I think I remember that!

I am getting a LOT better at programming, thanks to help from Peter and everyone (Crimson Sky is a good example)
