Star Dancer(Tribal House with Chanting and Jaw Harp)!

Very tribal sounding track, love the free form chants. The jaw harps sounds like didj in some places. Nice job. Curious what problems you were having getting a clean didj sound when trying to record it. I've made about every mistake there is in recording didj so maybe I can help? The two most common problems are : mic'ed too close to the didj. Mic placement is something worth experimenting with. You often find the correct distance is at least six inches from the end, but often it's best to just mic the room. Depends on if you mind catching the sound of your breaths along with it. Sometimes, it can sound cool to include it. Problem two is with rumbling base sound. I always roll off the base eq about 15 minutes from dead center and sometimes turn up the high eq just a little bit to catch the higher harmonics. Otherwise, everything is muddy, all drone no harmonics.

the prob i'm having with live tracks, is the hissing on play back. i don't know if it's the computer fan, or what. maybe i'm just not EQing the live tracks right. i can't seem to get away from that little hiss. you can kinda hear it on the vocal and jaw harp tracks too. i have a mixer, but i can't figure out why it won't work with my program...so i use the mic directly thru the pc. but i'll take the advice about playing distance from the mic from you, for the next time i record.

Wicked beat Ginn! Cool harp and chant too Shame about the slight hiss but it did'nt bother me too much. I'm sure you'll get it figured out
