Suddenly
Another raw improv thing.
I sound kind of nuts.... lol.
1 track of drums, bass, guitar and vocals -- all improv.
suddenly
I see the world as it's meant to be
nothing else matters just you and me
all of my pain will be set free
falling like rain washing over me
all will be clear if you want it to
nothing else matters just me and you

Re: Suddenly
Comming together Z. I hear little hesitations here and there, part of that comes from improv I imagine. The bass/Drum connection is tight. I like the lyrics. I'd keep jammin on this one, has some nice potential.
Re: Suddenly
Well....Z...All the (parts) sound good, but not going together well.
I dont know what order your building tracks, but i would say Get a (loop) to drum to or over, as a click. This will keep you in line on timing and help you relax on the drums.
These loop-clicks can be either deleted, or if they sound good with the real drums, leave them in there. Even cut-mix them in and out.
Now what i think would be good is to get a loop going, then do Bass to it as you did in the past, THEN drum to that.
OR...Do your tune, then LAST drum over or to it.
Its just a matter of the order you do parts..Do as you did before, then add drums.
After awhile, you can change that order up.
Drums sound is good, playing is fine.....Its the FLOW that off here and there.
You work, you write, you dont have time to spend "learning" drums...Just record your old way, then add your drums in to that.
DONT MAKE IT HARD!...ITS NOT...Same old dance, then add real-drums...
There nothing wrong with having real & loops in a tune either, IF it sound cool.
The loops are your trainer-buddy, and or a way to make you sound like an AWESOME drummer....
Time is the main prob....You just dont have enuff time to play music right now. NOR do I....
I have not recorded much at all the last month or so...And when i did, it was in and out real fast.
No listeners, lack of time, makes it very hard to do music. And then when we do, it lacks.
Your lyric says it ALL>......What matters, is very rare to be music or making it.
So i wonder, at my age if it waisting my time? Seems that way, and my music "sound" that way to me. Its just sound i did, is all....And it not that great. So, in a way, its a waist!
BUT, its our life to waist i guess.....Music is an ALL OR NOTHING thing...If you want to project your best....Then when you do, (like with magic-forest-sounds) You PAY for it in SO many ways that are NOT good, and that kills your greatness.
MFS is my VERY BEST EVER....Yet I cant STAND to listen because it brings up SO many bad feelings....That Album was mostly about Nigel and our group of friends, what we shared and gave to each other. It SUCKS its so painful i cant listen to my BEST work in 30 plus years.........Back to the waist of time thing....Even at our BEST, we just waist away our time on earth.
Im not gona "waist" my time spell-checking this...

Re: Suddenly
Good words Dace! Thanks!
Yeah what I am doing right now is listening to a programmed beat and playing live drums to it.
Then I mute the programmed beat, and do bass, then guitar, then vocals.
Once my timing is good enough I will be able to play without the programmed beat
and have better feel.
Part of it is just the relaxation. I feel I'm too tense on this one and rushing the snare beats.
You are right about time. In a way it's good for us both to be busy with other things.
It lets the music--when we have time--come out differently.
The words are the best part of this one.... They came to me suddenly. Couldn't write them down fast enough...

Re: Suddenly
I really like the way you sing this one Z, there's more melody in your voice. It's got to be one of your best vocally (for me anyway) Great lyrics too!

Thanks Steve. Yeah, I tend to sing the "romeo and juliet" ones with more feeling.
Glad you like it.
