Fiction Web Site

In non-music news I am setting up a fiction blog website to help sell my books.

It involves some tricky shit like MySQL (database), Wordpress (blogging software), and a lot of customization.

HOWEVER, if I figure out how to make it look real PRO, then I can probably do the same thing for
Atomic Force Records. I think it might help AFR to have more of a blog oriented site with press release
type entries and a place where listeners can sign up and post comments and everything.

Z......a question.....are you setting up Wordpress under your own domain with a webhosting company?

If so then its not too difficult to do and its very easy to use Wordpress once its setup.

My Darkstarcruiser site is a Wordpress site if you want to take another look at it

Its set up to look more like a website than a blog because I designed it that way. I have softawre that I bought that enables me to build and design my own Wordpress templates.

If you are setting up WP on a hosting site then you will find hundreds of templates you can use....there is no shortage of free designs.....but they are not easy to customise too much. That's why I got software for the job.

As far as an SQL databse goes all you have to do with WP is allocate and name an SQL database for use with WP and it will use it automatically.

I am redirecting the URL to my own machine.
I have MySQL and Wordpress working.

The only thing not working is sending emails through Comcast (when people register)..... I think I know why.... it's a comcast thing.


I'll post a link here once email / registration is working.

It's up. I will be adding a lot more content and customizing it as I go....

Looks good Z.......a nice clean look that draws your eye straight to the content

Have you looked at installing plug ins yet?

You can get lots of plug ins that do all sorts of things like giving you stats, creating good meta tags and making it all search engine friendly. Most of them are free.

Wordpress is a very cool program and is very user friendly

Yeah I need to pick some plug-ins. I looked at a few stat plug ins but haven't found one I like yet.

I used wordpress before years ago. It's a lot easier to use now.
