Well I hope you do get rich Steve.....but I haven't had much luck with Amazon and I've got all the GT albums and Darkstarcruiser on there
I've had more luck with I-Tunes than any over the years .......but rich....... No Way...... I just make enough to cover the costs of distibution with CD Baby.
Best place for sales at the moment is Soundawesome if you are getting a good response on there. I've sold a couple of Darkstarcruiser CD's. You can sell tracks or albums as downloads. You just need a Paypal account.
Soundawesome take a very small % and they pay you very quickly.
I don't think you will ever get rich making music unless you are really lucky........if you can cover some costs and invest a little back in then you are doing well.
Stick to Art for making money

if so, count me in!! i need the monay$$$! haha...
i don't think you could get rich off of music downloads or cd sales...unless you are a big name artist or have the proper promotion. or IF you go completely "viral," as they call it(you have to wonder about these pop up artists, they are prob just creations of hollywood in sheep's clothing lol). then too, if you have to divide any earnings with your collaborators...it would be a dollar here and there, if you have more then 2 other artists on an track or album. i think most of the money to be made in music these days, is for those that "gig" regularly. the best thing we can do for our art and music is to keep pushing it everywhere we go haha. and hope for the best! the biggest rewards for most of us, is just the fact we do have people that actually do care for original music, made by real artists...we've got to keep on keeping. the art/design business is like that too...some times work is hopping and the getting is good, and then it can come to a holt as fast as a viper strike. oh! at any rate, we love what we do and do it for our creative needs and everything else is just another flower on the cake! though it is a shame, so much talent out there and only a few of the lucky ones get noticed. it's interesting, the amount of abstract art by anybodies and photos taken by a housecat can bring in millions...yet people who live and breath creativity threw and threw wonder, "what's that like?" "my work is surly a better quality!!" and don't say you've never thought that, because come on now...a cat doesn't know it's taking the pictures it's taking!! cats are instinctive animals(yes smart and cute in the feline way), but they haven't taken an art class or have a this or that degree in design(but it's such a novel idea, or is it?)...neither have some of the most talented artists out there, but who will take your word, or portfolio if it's not on paper, how great you are for paying a school big bucks to get it on that piece of paper...i don't need no stinking papers! that's like comparing a mutt to a purebred pedigree...which is better? or does it even matter? allot of great people are self taught...and so understand things on a different and emotional level. you can't learn talent, only technique. ok starting to rant now!! whoa ok!! and sorry it might sound random, but it's all connected. the vicious circle evolves...

It's lucky I do music just for pleasure then ain't it LOL
Peter, I think Goblins and Galaxies is on i-tunes too but I haven't checked yet. Yes, it's on i-tunes, it's 2 quid more expensive than Amazon!!!
Art does pay more, not in cash, but the competitions I enter pay out in software, and gift vouchers to my favourate 3D content stores. I reckon in the last 4 years I've got about $3000 worth of goodies this way.

haha...it is. but you are a cool artist. you should try animation sometime and make a cool video for your music . anyway, thanks for letting me blow off some steam! it felt good to bla bla a bit. had a stressful week...
so i know too, free sites normally take a small cut from every sale. which is fine actually...since you get free hosting. how do you sell music at soundclick? i tried to put a few songs up for sale last week, but they aren't showing? maybe i didn't do it right? i know i prob won't make much, but anything is better then nothing at all. prices are going up and i feel like i'm throwing money out of the window most of the time... desperate times...as you know

Re: It is possible to get rich off of music downloads?
Not tried selling through Soundclick Ginn. I use Routenote http://routenote.com/ to distribute my CD to all the popular Download sites (Amazon, i-tunes, Napster, Spotify etc) it's free as in no upfront payment, they just take 15% of anything you sell.
