Wow! there's a beast from the past!!

Fascinating piece of history.

Here is a superb article written by a guy who managed to buy one much later at a knockdown price and rebuild it.

According to Wiki these were so expensive to make that even at the price they were charging the company went bust.
Somehow they must have been acquired and re started however as today they are in business again and still making top quality cutting edge equipment......check this out:

I remember seeing the Fairlight on the Peter Gabriel South Bank Show in the early '80s.
