DACEROCK - A Tribute to DACE Empty DACEROCK - A Tribute to DACE

Been experimenting with the Korg guitar multi FX making my own sounds.

Also dug up an old Zoom RT-323 Drum machine for this track and used the Groove Play feature which lets you assign and play patterns to the pads.

Inspired by DACE's Spacerock album "Point of No Return" I set about doing something in that style but in my own way........so this track is a tribute to DACE.....hence the title.

The Korg unit is used with Fender Jaguar on both guitar parts.... one very creamy with a low octave harmony and the clean chimy guitar is using a dual phaser setting with cross delays.

The two parts were then creatively mixed together in the mixdown stage.

The track is really just a demo and there are some faults......the drum parts get a little too busy.....but its not a bad effort methinks Smile

Hope you like it DACE....

Sounds great to me. I didn't notice the drums being overly busy, but then I can just listen to drum tracks all day. Guitars sound great, very nice voicings. Love the descending riffs, very dramatic yet laid back and bluesy, a real tip of the hat to Dace's ability to play controlled, soft yet explosive riffs totally in the flow of the music. Liked the pads and fills a lot. Loved the mood of the final few bars, the track closes in a nice warm way.

Thanks DACE..........The title said it all really.

I have listened to your work for a long time and not only have I been impressed by your playing but also with the way that you were able to build your tracks with multiple guitar tracks mixing clean and overdriven guitars.

When I heard your Spacerock album (which I am playing a lot) it was like the sound I had been searching for in many ways. I did not want to copy it but it was a major influence to lead me into a new direction with guitars.

One thing holding me back was that I was not happy with my guitar sound. I knew my playing was getting there but it seemed to lose something on my earlier tracks.

Thats why I invested in my new Korg AX3000G which is my other major influence.

You know as well as I do that TONE IS EVERYTHING !!!!! This has brought out the sounds I have been seeking to expand my guitar tracks. The sounds are awesome.

So .......to sum up......this track is a tribute to you DACE. It is downloadable from Soundcloud if you want a copy.

I think there is even better to come soon though as this one was just really a starter Smile

There are 2 good reviews on the Mixposure page.....one from Carol Sue and one from Rick K.

They both spotted the influences in the music Smile

I get what you're saying DACE. It can be far better to have 2 or 3 genuine friends than 50 or 60 that listen once and never return. People who are genuinely interested should be valued.

There may not be many people here at FOS but it works for us because we have that connection.

I'll stick it out at Mix and just take whatever it offers me ......but I don't expect too much Smile

Finally getting around to this one!

Nice soothing start. Tone immediately reminded me of Robin Trower -- nice and thick and a bit fuzzed.
The orchestration of the synths adds a lot of depth to the sound.

Guitar playing is just GREAT. This would make a super sound track piece. I picture flying low over the ground of an alien world.

Percussion sounds really nice. I especially love the kick sound which is super deep, kind of like a Koto drum or something.

I like the tone a lot, and the bends and slides are perfect.

The bell-like sounds compliment the guitar nicely, adding a counterpoint.

The sound reminds me a little of Mike Oldfield too. But the guitar playing is FAR better.
That always annoyed me about Tubular Bells (everything was great except the guitar).

Super work! Really enjoyable!

And you definitely channeled a bit of Dace in the flow and emotional feel. cheers

Thanks Z.....glad you got around to this one ......its the first one made using the Korg AX3000G.

The bell like sounds are guitar btw......I used one of the special modulation effects coupled with a crossdelay.

All done with the Jaguar.

Thanks Steve.....this track was inspired by listening to DACE's Spacerock album that he kindly gave a free DL link for.
I wasn't trying to exactly copy his style but I wanted to get the same feeling and atmosphere....and it worked out fine. Smile
