Re: Solstice - seasonal groove
Thanks Dace, it's kind of a tribute to 90's Australian film board sound tracks.
Re: Solstice - seasonal groove
This is awesome Ed!! Reminds me of early Gryphon but with didge instead of crumhorn!!
Re: Solstice - seasonal groove
I so love your music Ed!
It's your own version of Native. A blend of a lot of elements.
The digi holds down the bottom like an underground river.
The synths and flute-like sounds add a joyful uplifting element.
I like the rhythm accents that sound vocal too.
There is something about modulation voice and breath that is special.
And you totally capture it here.
Some of the synths kind of sound like a clavinet (if I'm remembering that right), so it gives it a bit of a
60s sound.

Thanks Z. I'm really bad about remembering what kind of patch I use for this and that. I'm mostly auditioning sounds to find the sound I'm looking for, then tweak it if need be. But I don't pay much attention to the names of things. It was an earlier synth band type sound I was aiming for. The rhythmic accents were vocals. The didj style I was attempted to emulate was this kind of rhythmic pulsing with quick sharp vocal barks delivered in bursts emulating perhaps a conga hit.

Re: Solstice - seasonal groove
Sorry.....I thought I had posted on this but somehow I missed it so my apologies for being so late.
Great ethnic / ambient mix ed.....that is your speciality if I remember correctly.
Underpinned by the didge it starts with a simple beat and extra layers of sound keep appearing and weaving sounds around the main theme. I like how it is built up and it picks up further along as some more percussion is added to it.
In a way it kind of reminds me of an ethnic version of the famous Bolero.
Great work Ed
