Ok, so now the wife has been out looking at vehicles and she can't
make a decision. Not only that she has a bunch of "rules" that make no sense
(like: all of these trucks have a blind spot because the back window is too small)

Apparently she doesn't use the side view mirrors right, so she always has to look out the
back window (which is bigger in the Blazer than a lot of the new vehicles).

So, switching to plan B.

She can get a second opinion from a transmission shop on how much it would cost
to fix the Blazer (estimating it will be $1,500). I would rather junk it since it's a 96
and a piece of shit that I keep pumping money into, but whatever....

Then, I will trade in the Dodge Intrepid on a 2008 Toyota 4Runner or Highlander with low miles.
And we will cross our fingers that her Blazer lasts through the winter.

That way at least we will both have 4x4s (which is fucking necessary up here just to get around).
AND I will still have room to haul amps and bikes and gear.

Plan B sounds good for a few reasons..you "know" the jimmy. 1500 is cheaper than buying another.

And YES! What the HELL are you doing driving a CAR up there anyway... Laughing Laughing

Plan B sounds best to me anyway.

I spent 1800, on mine this month, PLUS paid 150.00 payment today on it, and will have to pay 250.00 right after the 25th....but thats next months payment it that 250.
But GEEEzzzzz.....Think of all the GEAR i could have bought..Sad And FOOD!... Laughing

Also...the Jimmy made it down here and back once..got to be good one. But you know what you have in it.
If you got another one with payments, what would happen is you car would blow, and you would have 2 payments to make.

You won't get a more reliable truck than the Toyota 4Runner, Z Smile

Agree with that Steve.

Truck will "fit" you so much better Z.

Bike...yes, i have been needing to get one awhile. Just need a cheap mountain bike.
SURE would have helped when the truck was down..walking to the store was hour walk, nonstop. I see them at the markets for 30 bucks like-new, but never have the cash. Its HIGH on my list on needs. And theres lots of cool places to ride here.

Been driving the father-in-law's Lincoln sedan. Very comfortable but TERRIBLE in the snow.
All the weight is in the front and it's rear-wheel drive and very heavy.

It sounds like we will get the Blazer back this Saturday. That will buy us some time to look for
another vehicle.

I'm not sure on the price yet. I know it will be at least $1000.
He has to take the transmission all the way out just to figure out which parts to replace.
So he knows about how much time it will take (labor cost), but not exactly which parts need to be replaced.

It's an automatic so I guess the clutch is part of the transmission?
I miss my old 5-speed SR5. It was cold as hell in the winter, but I could push start it by myself. Cool
