Distance IS the enemy
Faceless anonymity
All gestures unfelt and smiles unseen
until all we say and all we mean
ends up wisps of smoke on a blinking screen

For just one day I want to see
All my friends surrounding me
close enough to touch and hear
no need to translate when they are near

A wink, a nod, a silly grin
Arms stretched out, a shrug, and then
I would know just what they mean
It wouldn't be a half-told dream

That day we'd dance and sing and play
all our anger washed away
by the stream of soul and heart
And we would wish to never part
