Lazy Calm - Cocteau Twins
Liz Frazer, the most beautiful voice ever!! So difficult to choose one from so many wonderful songs, so I picked this one from their ambient album "Victorialand"
Re: Lazy Calm - Cocteau Twins
Nice....but it took 3 minutes before the vocals came in
I liked the ambient start and ending . I could take or leave the vocal part (sorry)
It seems we don't share the same tastes when it comes to female vocals......no problem because we can't all like the same thing.....so I will post a couple of tracks here of my choice with female singers.....just for comparison
This is Yulanga (Spirit Dance) by Dead Can Dance featuring Lisa Gerrard. Dark, mysterious and tribal this music is like brain food to me.
Patti Smith - Pissing in a River,
Ok....maybe not the best voice but she sings so intensely with an attitude. Defines a female rock singer so well and writes great songs. This one is a favourite. Pure 70's rock that builds beautifully:

I love Lisa Gerrard and DCD!! 4ad in the 80's + 90's had some of my all time fave artists signed to them (including the Cocteau Twins)
I first heard DCD on It'll End in Tears by This Mortal Coil. It was a track with a lot of looped accordion. At the time I hated it and always skipped it, but years later seeing Aion on the shelf in Wollies record department with it's Garden of Earthly Delights cover I just had to have it. (I love the paintings of Hieronymus Bosch. A 15th century Dali in my eyes) A case of buying an album purely for the art but being pleasantly surprised at the musical content. I love medieval music too.
Patti Smith I like too. Not heard that much other than the Springsteen cover Because the Night and it's B side Piss Factory (and now she's Pissing in a river LOL)

Dead Can Dance is good music as well as the vocals from Lisa Gerrard. Very Tribal and Ethnic. I also like TransGlobal Underground with Natacha Atlas.
That Patti Smith song is an early one on the Radio Ethiopa album which is the album I like best. I have it still on vinyl and Horses the first album.
