Immortal Egypt - Phil Thornton & Hossam Ramzy
You may be aware of the name of Phil Thornton as Nigel was a huge fan of his work.
In case you are not.....he is one of the world's top New Age artists and his music is awesome....not like the cheap New Age Cd's that are so often linked with that genre.
He has made 3 albums with Hossam Ramzy (a top Egyptian percussionist) with Egyptian as the theme but as a modern interpretation.
The albums are Eternal Egypt, Immortal Egyptand Enchanted Egypt. I have the first two and some of his other albums.
He explores other themes on his other works like Tibetan music, Celtic music and Space music too.
Being Egypt though this is specially for z:

Wow, very cool!
I have heard Hossam Ramzy many times, as well, on many albums.
He's awesome.
I like Middle-Eastern influenced bands better than traditional Middle-Eastern.
Bands like: Killing Joke, The Tea Party, Bodyshock, Fiamma Fumana
Thanks for posting. I will have to check out more....
Along with 870 pictures we took in Egypt, I took 6 hours of video (mostly of dancing).
Some of the dancers had awesome bands. I think Aziza had a 13 piece band with her.
I will have to Youtube some of those clips so you can see them....
