Soft Boys
Another band I love. Mostly because Robyn Hitchcock is just awesome.

In a strange twist of fate, I had a roommate in college who's brother was a DJ in LA.
He used to come back with Mix Tapes for us to listen to.
One of my favorites had: Hawkwind, Motorhead, and Soft Boys on it.
For me, they are literate PUNK. Hitchcock just writes great lyrics.

The Soft Boys .......remember them well and always liked them. One of the few bands that actually understood the 60's music and were really good at recreating it.
They even captured the humour of the lyrics and instead of sounding like just one band they could capture the sound and style of many 60s and 70s artists.
Hitchcock does a great Mick Jagger on Only the Stones.
Here's my favourite....an old Syd Barret number they covered that captures the spirit of English 60's psychedelia :

Cool! Yeah I think that song is on Underwater Moonlight, which I have.
Syd Barrett is an influence on me as well. He was very OUT THERE and experimental.
