The kid and the bass

Catching a lot of bass these days. Trying to catch Walleye (better tasting),
but the bass are everywhere.

Here's the kid with a 16" smallmouth that fought real good.

Now those are farking BIG! I love sea bass.
Growing up on the west coast, on the pacific, I grew up eating Halibut, trout,
and Salmon. I didn't have Sea Bass until much later...

My lad used to catch lots of sea bass a couple of years back. The wife hates the smell of fish, I'm not aloud to even cook fresh fish in the house!!! Have to fire up the BBQ in the garden to cook it

My wife is like that too. She grew up eating way too much lake fish,
so now she will just eat salmon and swordfish--both cooked on the grill.

luckily that is my favorite way to cook it anyway. a little alder wood and
a sweet mustard, dill, lemon sauce. Yum!

out here we "shore lunch" it (breaded and deep fried in a pan).
hard to beat fresh-from-the-lake fish, cooked half an hour after
catching it.

I love a good fish and chips with halibut or cod too, but it's hard to find it
done right except at Irish and English pubs around here.

My youngest just phoned, He's been out all day on the boat fishing and he's caught 3 decent sized cod! He doesn't like fish so he's bringing them home for me!!

The fish arrived at 9pm. It's now 10.20pm Just this minute finished gutting, filleting and hosing down!! Made a bit of a mess with the last one so the cats will eat well!!!
Two 16 pounders and a 12 pounder!!

Wow! Those are way bigger than anything we catch.
Should be real tasty that fresh.
