Re: Star4mation's debut Album
Cheers Z. Took me bloody ages to match the music I had already recorded with a concept for the art. Spent a week just suggesting album titles to myself. (all day at work just running through ideas) I wanted something that suggested Spacey ambient, but also psychedelic madness and a bit of fantasy!
Think I managed it

Re: Star4mation's debut Album
AWESOME..I hope you will let AFR carry it?
Be great to have you there.
Talk to Z about that Steve.
As he said, he can link it to where you want people to buy it.
Or if you have paypal, Z can just send you your money.
You can trust Z 100% on that.
Think about it Steve. We are TRY"N to build a lable up..Need Albums on there..
I am selling AFR Albums at the fleamarket also..Z sent me 2 copies of each on the site to start out with. Should work good over time.
Z....TOM will have 2 Albums to put up there when he gets here.. AWESOME!

Re: Star4mation's debut Album
Thanks Dace. Half way there with the music. Got to make some new stuff when I get the time
Re: Star4mation's debut Album
Awesome cover art Steve. Reminds me of an Ozric Tentacles type cover
Sometimes a really good cover can sell a CD without the buyer even hearing the music and this one has BUY ME written all over it.
Really nice work.....congrats.

Re: Star4mation's debut Album
Thanks Peter. I must admit, I've bought albums in the past solely for the art work on the cover!

Back in the 70's when you bought LP's .....especially if they had a gatefold sleeve...that was when it really worked.
Must admit I too bought some albums because the cover was so good.....only to find that the music was rubbish. Relayer by Yes is a prime example I seem to remember. Roger Dean was a superb artist who paved the way but I am sure that he never listened to some of the albums his art appeared on !!!
btw....I did like Yes.....but not the Relayer album.
Re: Star4mation's debut Album
I love Roger dean's art, but my favorite has to be Dave Greenslade and Patrick Woodroffe's "THE PENTATEUCH OF THE COSMOGONY" The ultimate in Album cover design " LP's housed in a 12x12 inch book. If you can get an original 1979 LP for less than £150 you're doing well (NO I won't ever sell my copy ) LOL
It was re issued as a CD but that's becoming rare too.
Barny Bubbles (early Hawkwind covers) and George Underwood (Tyrannosaurus Rex) are also faves of mine.

Re: Star4mation's debut Album
Because I've been going to Science Fiction conventions for years and years I've met some
pretty incredible artists.
Rick Berry is one of my favorites. He is famous for the cover art for Neuromancer (William Gibson book).
A lot of his stuff is at http://www.braid.com
I especially like this stuff:

Boris Vallejo's work is really well known.
Bear in mind that this is old school art.....not digital.....but superb paintings.

Cool. Yeah I've seen lots of his work. Very nice!
I also like Frazetta a lot (just passed away last week I think).
Berry does both digital and traditional oil. I just like his digital better because of the themes.

Re: Star4mation's debut Album
Frank Frazetta died May 10th aged 82. He and Boris Vallejo are the two fantasy artists that most of us digital artists consider to be the best in the fantasy field and the ones we get a lot of inspiration from.
And if it's Pin-ups then Alberto Vargas was the master!!

Cheers Z Artwork almost done now, tracks all recorded. Track order seems to run nicely. Got to burn to disc next and check it out on my Hi-Fi to see what it sounds like at a decent volume! Sounds OK through headphones from the PC.
Re: Star4mation's debut Album
Hi Star4mation,
Beautifully mind twisting! I'll look forward to hearing some of your musical creations to be the back up for the cover. Hmmm...did that sound right? In any case, awesome richness and eclectic subject matter. Thank you for sharing.
Peace,
Zest

Re: Star4mation's debut Album
Nice artwork on the back as well as the front....very Middle Earth.
And great titles for the tracks.
Like I said before .....presentation is half the battle.
I hope it does well for you Steve.

Even if the music is played only once, the buyer will keep coming back to look at the CD art!! LOL
