SONUUS Guitar to MIDI converter G2m_usage_map

The G2M™️ is a simple-to-use, highly effective, guitar-to-MIDI converter. It is “Universal” because it doesn't need a special pick-up mounted on your guitar, but instead simply connects to your guitar like any other effects pedal or tuner.

Designed to give accurate triggering, with low-latency, it is a true plug-and-play solution for monophonic MIDI guitar. It can be used to sequence bass lines and guitar solos add an edge to your live performances — it opens up many creative possibilities.

* Any electric guitar can be used as a solo MIDI guitar.
* No guitar modifications or special pickups required.
* Robust note detection — minimises wrong notes.
* Accurate pitch-bend determination.
* Low latency.
* Built-in tuner for standard guitar tuning.
* Battery-powered with long battery life.
* Compact, lightweight and portable.

No modifications are required to your guitar; no special pickups to install; and nothing needs to be “stuck” onto your instrument. It works with all electric guitars.

The G2M™️ universally appeals to all guitarists from novices to seasoned professionals. Keenly priced to fit any budget, with the robust reliable performance expected by the finest stagemen.

Incredibly simple to use:

1.

Plug your guitar into GUITAR to power-up the G2M™️
2.

Connect your MIDI device (or computer) to the MIDI OUT
3.

Play notes on your guitar and MIDI will be sent out!

Powered from a single PP3 battery, its long battery life combined with small size makes the G2M™️ the ideal accessory to keep with your guitar. Not only does it provide fast and precise tuning, but it also gives you instant MIDI capability for any electric guitar!

Robust Performance

Research has shown us that the most important aspect for pitch-to-MIDI conversion is reliable and reproducible triggering of notes. While low-latency is important, robust triggering is the key to usability — you can easily adapt to some latency, but you cannot adapt to random, spurious notes.

By virtue of the unique, inherently robust technology used in the G2M™️ you will be able to reliably generate accurate MIDI quickly and easily. Notes are generated exactly as played, and the nuances of your performance are captured with fast, accurate pitch-bend data.
Built-in Tuner

The built-in tuner uses our PULSAR™️ tuning technology where the power LED doubles as a tuning indicator. This innovative tuner gives you a fast and accurate way to tune your guitar.
Instrument Thru

Featuring a high-impedance input circuit, the G2M™️ won't sap your tone when using it "in-line" before your amp, or other effects pedals. You can then easily combine MIDI sounds with your normal guitar sound for some exciting musical possibilities.
Improves Playing Technique

For optimal MIDI conversion, your guitar playing needs to be clean and accurate. Accidental notes, resonating open strings and other sounds can often be converted into undesired MIDI notes. Often you don’t hear these when playing guitar yourself, but can detect them easily when listening live to the generated MIDI.

Striving to improve MIDI note accuracy, encourages clean picking and accurate fingering, with good control over non-sounding strings by damping them.

Not only will your MIDI output be more accurate, your normal guitar playing will sound clearer and more professional. It’s like having a tutor sitting beside you giving you advice. It’s also great fun!
Most of all, it's Fun!

When you try the G2M™️ and generate some new sounds, the first thing that strikes you is how much fun it is. Unleash new creative inspiration and invigorate your soul.

This is what I used for the Tenor Sax in my track Sax Machine. It has literally hundreds of uses though especially for me with my abundance of synths.

Some sounds don't work too well but others come to life in different ways by playing them with a guitar.

This thing is only mono.....but you can create multiple pads on the synth to play from one note if you know how to do it.

It really works well with wind instruments like Sax, Flutes Oboes Clarinets etc.

Lots of experimenting to do with this.

Cool
My thoughts are normal on this i guess, being a guitarist.
I have NO prob with a Keyboard sounding like ANY insterment, EVEN guitar!
But, i like a guitar to sound like one. Tho i LOVE FX on them.
Dont mind a guitar sounding strange at all. Just not like another insterment.
Other way around with KEYs....Like them to do other insterments better than Key-based sounds.

You should be able to do alot with this Peter.
Interesting.

They do one for Bass guitar too. (I know this because my studiospares catalogue came in the post today! LOL) Can't afford any new gear but I still like to look Smile I'm trying to save for a netbook computer at the moment as I need an internet connection and a cheap portable synth. Netbooks are less bulky than laptops and as i only need it for the internet and music (via my Korg) I can getaway with a lowish spec one for around £175.

Endless possibilities DACE

The guitar is used to control the synth....but because we play different to keyboard players we get a different feel to the music.
Its strange to play a guitar and have a flute or sax playing.....but it responds to bends and how hard you pick....also vibrato and pulloffs. So the sound comes out much more like a real instrument.....but it does'nt work with all sounds. Pianos will sound awful if you bend the strings for instance.

This is fantastic for bass sounds and synth leads though.......and there will be lots of special effects to be discovered. This is an area to get creative with and experiment.

You can also run a lead out from the box so that your guitar is still playing to enable you to mix the guitar sound with the synth output.....so its playing the same notes.

Steve has also pointed out that there is a version for bass guitar.....the difference being on how the MIDI responds to the audio frequency of the notes.

These units supply MIDI by a standard MIDI 5 pin socket which is great for hardware but they have another new model that has USB and is a bit more advanced and more expensive.

You can control soft synths with your guitar.....imagine Reaktor synths played on a guitar .....awesome.

All the midi notes can also be recorded into a sequencer like Cubase so that you can edit duff notes or change the tempo later.

Because I already have a MIDI interface for my synths to go via USB to my computer I can already do this or I can play soft synths (VST).........not tried that yet as I have masses of scope with my hardware.

The sounds is FAB Peter..Smile

See...Most think, O, i got my gear. They never change it much.
I just feel, gear, is VERY important to an artist to keep changing and trying new stuff.
It puts us back into PLAY mod...We KNOW how to record, and play, gear helps us stay interested in sounds.
It very important really.
Something as little as a NEW pick can do SO much. Even strings.

One gabs a guitar and plays something...Then if you grab another one, you play something different...And it puts one in a PLAY mod. Listening, feeling, all at once.
Music JUMPS way UP when we do that.

HELL..I can read and look at gear and get inspired!
Also cleaning my gear gets me in a great PLAY mod.
Its FUNNY! I can play a bit....Stop, wipe off my POD, and then play 10 times better.
Pretty funny. Its like you show yourself you care for you gear, and it affects you playing.
When I have to get loans on my gear to pay bills, I feel them missing..Only untill i get them back do things seem "right" with my music.

Gear and Music....they go together.

Music is inspired by Gear.....and new Gear is often inspired by Music....its a Wheel of Life Smile

When I used to go to gigs I would always be checking out what gear was being used even long before I became a musician.....it always fascinated me.

I can remember way back in 67 when I was in a local venue watching a band called Wilde Flowers and talking to the guitarist about gear...he was using a Tele but he was talking about Gibson guitars as he wanted one badly.

I guess he got his wish....that band went on to form the nucleus of two well known bands in the late 60s/70s era.
They became Caravan and Soft Machine....both big names in the UK. Smile
