Friend or Foe by Thaedeus

I've got one thing to ask you that I think you'll understand
I really want to know just exactly where you stand
I saw you from a distance and the look inside your eye
do you want to shake my hand or do you want to die?

I saw you in a dream and you were with another man
just what part of loneliness don't you understand?
if you want to crush my heart and leave it on the floor
let me take you quietly and show you out the door

your eyes are pits of fire that are powered from within
but is the fire ecstasy or is it only sin?
I need to know just what you are and what you want to be
are you here to crucify or are you here for me?

VERY different Z.
Great lyric writing.
Like the (Friend or Foe) line. Very Mantra.
You do real good here with the fast vocal style.

Think you should put some guitar in there.

Pretty neat tune Z. Different, and interesting. Artistic but straight forward.

Thanks! Yeah, I think it's about a minute too long and a little busy.
The really low vocal words echoing the last word in each line are me, not pitch-shifted or anything (taking advantage of having a cold).

There is a tiny bit of slide guitar in it just for accent, but I had to run the guitar through my mic pre-amp because my
amps still aren't hooked back up to the mixer.

Still, it's the best I've done at anything close to hip-hop style....
and I think the words are kinda tricky. Cool

I might shave off a minute and add a guitar break in the middle.

Z

Something different......very cool.....Enter The Zapster Very Happy Very Happy

Great lyrics and the vocals are good too. Love the little breaks in between verses....they fit the style.

Agree its a bit too long.....also adding guitar would be good.

I think the bassline is a bit too busy for this track.....it gives the impression that you are running at twice the speed of normal hip hop. But what do I know......its not my genre Smile

All in all....its a good start to a style that is completely different to your normal work.

Yeah I agree about the bassline.
I've never met a style I couldn't violate.... lol!

It is kind of fun doing the fast-talking-sing-song like thing from time to time.

But mostly I did it because I can't reach my mixer (studio is a big mess right now)

(opportunity is the mother of invention?)

Zappa was the first famous musician I ever got compared to. Cool It still happens from time to time.
Thanks!

Yeah, I am a big fan of Frank. Not just his music, but his ideas about music.
He was all originality and no apologies.
