Im starting to (listen) to my gear now..I can HEAR it....Im setting here listening to my wonderful Strat! WOW...Nice sound...My bass...AWESOME Tone...My Voice..TRIPPY!...I can hear the POD sound, the drum-stuff i use, ACID software has a "sound"...Its very trippy man!

Never really "Heard" my gear that much before in my music.
FLOWS Album i did because thats what it was all about. But man! Im enjoying this.

Im a gear freak! But to HEAR it is SOOOO COOL!~!!!!!

Compression, Delay, single coils, bass tones, my Deep and my Raw vocals....Some nice sounds from my "gear"...."tools"....

You guys every hear your gear???????

I know i do Zs....He has many cool sounds i love that come from his "gear"...As with Peters guitars.
Zs Line6-Amp has many things i like, its the way Z sets it. The clean tones he gets, i cant get. ALL Zs guitars sound awesome...he has an ear for that.

Thats why i did NOT want him to get another Bass...Im so into his ESP..Glad he fixed it up..And to think..I HAVE some of its sound here in the parts.

The POD i use is Zs...Smile

Anyway...STOKED!...(IN THE BOXES)-(FROM THE DARKNESS)-(I AM FILLED)- Are my BEST tunes/music yet! Alot to do with GEAR!!!!!!!!!! Alot.

I gotta check out your newest tunes!

I know what you mean about gear! Everything is unique.
It's very difficult to sound like anyone else unless their setup is super simple (not that we want to).

And especially musicians like us who are always customizing, and using gear in new ways.

It's good to just listen. And to listen to a song all the way through while paying attention to just
one track in it sometimes.

I'm glad I listened to you and rebuilt the ESP too. For years and years I never bought a new bass
because it "just worked fine." But it was more than that. I picked that exact one for a reason.

listening to my gear has always helped me.
thats how I found the right pickups and how i wired my SG.
how I took out the tone controls and replaced them with one
3 pos switch to ge tthe tones I wanted. played with many different rated capacitors
until I found the ones that gave me that tone. Then it was down to amps
and after trying out a few different ones I found the haze.
Now I'm very happy with the tones I get. Tried out a few different wah pedals and found
the dunlop crybaby. Yeah I do listen to my gear.
Great thread Dace!!!!

Yes....Z...Right now i have a very cool, but strange thing going with ALL the gear i have. Its like everything i own is "holy" in some way. Its very spooky...Im allmost affraid of my gear in way, or something....Its stuff i look up to, for different reasons.

Stuff of yours, stuff i found cheap and am in awe with, eveything i own is bigger than me, bigger than just an insterment..They stand for stuff...Friendshipes, feelings, vibes...Studio is the same..I walk in, its like church or something. Its still, and comanding...Its very "holy" in there...EVERYTHING means something to me in there..Wood, nic-naks, every single thing is important to me..Its spooky man.

I dont feel in control, or powerful there...But yet i feel "right", or safe. Its like my "stuff" is taking care of me....Kinda not good in a way i guess. But iv never felt that from "things" before...There just important i guess?????

I listen to the music i make in there..Its ME for sure, but i dont remember doing it.
(From the Darkness) really give me chills..Its SO true to what i know about life.
(I am filled)..Truth, but not just MY truth...Everyones. This music is speaking to me, I am speaking to me....And its VERY "Holy" Man!

Im just triping over this man! Its pretty neatO...Smile
You will see what i mean when you walk in...you will feel it. Its a KARMA-FEST!!!!
You will hear it in our recordings. Thats why we are going record..Smile

Hi Rick..we must have posted about the same time, about missed this..
Yep, I guess untill recently i was never happy with my music, so i was listening to it try'n to figgure out what was wrong with it...Now im hearing my gear. And the fact i have all new gear pretty much, i hear the difference alot...But im AM getting my IBANEZ-S back soon..Its my "sound" as far as guitar....But now i have a better "clean" guitar in the strat now...

The Washburn sounds just like the Dean-bass to me, so i think im hearing the POD-settings as far as bass sounds go. Like this bass more tho..Wink

i am SO missing a DropC guitar....My strat is 440....and the Ibanez will be because it allways was one.....SO, first one i get built must be for DropC.....

Anywhoooooooooo...Smile

Listening to my gear...............I mean really listening......is second nature to me.

Its the reason why I take so long between tracks then sometimes you get 2 or 3 at once.
I can spend days on looking for the right sounds on my synths and when I get something in my head then ideas start to flow and generate.

The Virus for example (just one of my hardware synths but it is one of the main ones) has 8 banks each containing 128 sounds......thats 1024 sounds onboard.
I always modify presets........often creating new sounds.......and there are so many controls that you have many thousands of combinations in one synth.
Also you can load new sounds in and I have lots of banks on file each containing another 128 sounds......and that is just one synth........the Supernova and Waldorf are similar too.

That means I have access to 100's of thousands of sounds..................yet I always come up with my own unique sound on my tracks.

So........Yes ...........listening to my gear often takes more time than actually making the tracks......but it is that attention to detail that makes my music unique and creative.

I also am very attached to my gear .....synths and guitars and other stuff too.....my feeling for my Jaguar is well documented.

I know exactly where you are coming from DACE Smile Smile Smile

Good thread. Interesting thoughts.

I agree Dace, I feel the vibe in the Studio. It's like hallowed ground.
Being part Cherokee I think I feel a little bit of the ancestors there.
It's where the Trail Of Tears started. Right there.

And somehow I think that "places" can store good energy just like a guitar gets "better" by aging
and being played. All the creativity at the top of that Mountain is creating a Nexus.

And Peter, I know exactly what you mean. I do the same for synth parts (but I don't tweak as much,
I just go through the ones I have). I just look for the sounds I hear in my head.
Which often causes me to put things together that violate "the rules."
Like african, asian, and rock drums all in the same song. Or mixing keys, wide-chorusing bass,....

Yes Peter, i would think so, Synth's are magic machines man!
And your guitars are so killer, you have had them awhile also.

I only listen after the recording tho...I hear nothing while recording really..im in this Zone, i dont remember recording the music. Im lost in it..It only after i can "hear" it.

Z....just wait..LOTS has changed in that Studio....Much KARMA put in it since you were here. Its not EVEN the same as before...WAY more magical for sure!!! Lots of work, jamming, OS stuff, thinking , setting, listening, emotions, Its alot more powerful now..Smile
Lots , well ALL the upgrading was done with excitment, and from stuff i bought from friends at the flea market, and mike helped with alot of stuff. Like i say, everything in there, work and all, means something..theres a story behind everything, theres karma ATT to all things. But hell!!!! its been going on for 7 years now. So, yes, SHOULD be magic, right??
All the stereo gear, and PA speackers mike and I found for next to nothing at the markets, RIGHT when we needed them, right when we had a buck or two.

Thanks for talking with me guys..i feel alot better today..You guys help me so much. im fighting hard, and im wore down. BUT....Thanks.
